NextWealth analysis

Aegon Retirement Choices (or ARC) is best known for supporting clients in decumulation. Financial adviser review scores are down year on year – in particular for support provided. Financial advisers continue to appreciate the charge cap on portfolios of over £250k. This can make the platform very economical for clients with larger portfolios. This year Aegon ARC scored last in the rankings with a score of 3.1 out of 5, but scores strongly on ‘Value for Money’. Cost of service is important but in the aftermath of consumer duty, overall value will be the measure. Hopefully we will see a repurpose time and effort to settle any twitchy adviser users.

In our surveys, financial advisers give similar ratings to ARC and the Aegon Platform. Financial advisers told us:

“Excellent cost base, Individual support from Aegon team is attentive and personal - really good.  Actual platform is clunky though.”

“We like the ease of use and the £250k cap on charges for clients. We use it for clients that are far more hands on with their investments and fees/charges conscious."
